TEMPE – Sun Devil Softball pitcher Kenzie Brown has earned a spot on the 2025 NFCA Division I All-America First Team. This announcement came on Wednesday during a press conference held at the Women’s College World Series. She is one of 54 standout athletes from 33 colleges to receive this honor.
This is a big deal for Brown; it’s the 45th time a Sun Devil player has been recognized, and the 26th first-team award. Brown is the first ASU pitcher to be named an All-American since G Juarez in 2018, and the first to make the first team since Cydney Sanders in 2022.
As of the Super Regionals, Brown was second in the nation with 289 strikeouts, averaging an impressive 11.6 strikeouts per seven innings. Impressively, she leads all Power 4 pitchers in these categories. Her strikeout total is now 10th in program history, while her average per seven innings is a new record.
Brown finished the season with a 19-8 record, four saves, and an ERA of 1.28. She had double-digit strikeouts in 12 games, surpassing 12 in nine of those. Notably, she tied ASU’s record by striking out 18 batters in a single game against BYU during the program’s inaugural Big 12 match on March 6.
In addition to her First Team honor from the NFCA, she was also recognized as Second Team All-America by D1 Softball and Softball America.
Kenzie Brown’s achievements reflect her dedication and skill. As the game of softball continues to evolve, athletes like her play a crucial role in elevating the sport’s profile and inspiring future players. The rise of advanced metrics in sports highlights the significance of players who can dominate on the field. Brown’s performance underlines how the combination of hard work and talent can lead to remarkable achievements.
