TUCSON, Ariz.- Four members of the Arizona women’s tennis team have made it to the 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District Women’s Tennis Team, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Juniors Martyna Ostrzygalo and Josie Usereau, sophomore Maria Garcia, and senior Tanvi Narendran earned this honor for their outstanding performance both on the court and in their studies. Excitingly, Ostrzygalo and Usereau are also in the running for Academic All-America honors.
This talented group led Arizona in singles victories during the 2025-26 season, helping the Wildcats achieve a commendable second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
Arizona wasn’t alone in this recognition; several other Big 12 programs also made it to the NCAA Division I Academic All-District team. This accolade highlights student-athletes who have shone academically and athletically throughout the year. According to the NCAA, over 300 Division I schools participate in this program, making these achievements quite significant.
Looking back, academic recognition for athletes has grown over the years. Historically, the balance between sports and education was often skewed towards athletics. However, in recent years, institutions have placed more emphasis on academic success as well. Programs like the CSC Academic All-District showcase this shift towards valuing well-rounded student-athletes.
Keep an eye out for the announcement of the first-, second-, and third-team CSC Academic All-America honorees for women’s tennis on June 2. The contributions of these athletes highlight the importance of excelling in both sports and studies, inspiring many up-and-coming student-athletes.
