In Arlington, Texas, the police responded to a report of an armed robbery on January 10. The incident took place at a title loan business on W. Pioneer Parkway after a bystander saw two men enter the store, possibly armed, and called 911.

Inside the business, surveillance footage showed Kelvin Bivens, 37, pointing a handgun at four employees. He ordered them to the ground. His accomplice, Kevin Lewis, 38, joined him, and together they searched through drawers and the employees’ belongings. They forced the workers into a back room and bound them with tape.
As police arrived at the scene, they established a perimeter around the building. Officers knocked on the back door and announced themselves. Shortly after, Lewis fled out the back door but was immediately met with police who were there. Bivens, however, fired shots at the police before retreating back inside.
Law enforcement apprehended Bivens as he attempted to exit the front. Thankfully, no officers were harmed during the exchange. Soon after the situation was under control, the employees managed to reach the back door, and police helped them exit safely. Although shaken, they were unharmed.
Bivens now faces charges for aggravated assault on a public servant and aggravated robbery. He is being held at Tarrant County Jail.
Following the incident, detectives identified Lewis as the second suspect. They issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of aggravated robbery. On January 23, the U.S. Marshals tracked him down in Arlington, where he was arrested without incident.
Lewis was also wanted in connection with the death of a pharmaceutical delivery driver in Shreveport, who was tragically killed during a robbery at a Walgreens on January 22. He is currently held at Arlington City Jail.
