Armstrong Hockey Star Takes on the Challenge of Facing the Devils

Cash Anderson is on a new journey, trading the Fraser River for Lake Erie as he joins the Fredonia State Blue Devils at an NCAA Division III college in New York.

At just 20, Anderson is coming off a successful season with the Quesnel River Rush in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. He shined in his last junior season, racking up 55 points in just 38 games.

The River Rush, which moved to Quesnel for the 2024-25 season, had a rocky playoff run, finishing third in the Doug Birks Division but getting knocked out in the first round. Anderson credited his teammates and coaches for creating an environment that made him feel at home on the ice, especially at the West Fraser Centre.

“I am super honored to commit to such an amazing university and hockey program at Fredonia State,” said Anderson. He expressed gratitude towards his coaches and the Rush organization, emphasizing how they helped him improve his game.

Training routines, including two-a-day practices, contributed to his growth as a player. Under the guidance of new coach Logan Maxwell, Anderson’s skills flourished. “Cash became an elite player in the league and a true leader for us,” Maxwell said, highlighting Anderson’s development.

While the Blue Devils ended their last season with a record of 7-18, Anderson’s commitment could be a turning point for the program. His passion and drive may inspire others on the team to step up their game.

Fredonia, NY, home to about 9,871 residents, has a rich history. Founded in 1826, it was once called Canadaway. The name Fredonia, suggesting ‘freedom,’ was thought to symbolize the spirit of early American settlers. This name has found its way onto many towns and cities across the country.

It’s exciting to see how Anderson will bring new energy and skill to the Blue Devils. As he takes this next step in his career, he hopes to leave his mark on Fredonia State’s storied hockey program.
