Ex-Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun recently shared his thoughts on India’s possibilities in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. He emphasizes the crucial role of two key bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, in shaping the team’s success.

The tournament kicks off on September 9 in Abu Dhabi, featuring teams like Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka in Group B. India is in Group A along with Pakistan, the UAE, and Oman. Their first match is against the UAE on September 10 in Dubai, followed by a highly anticipated clash with Pakistan on September 14.

The Challenge for Arshdeep

Bharat Arun highlighted the importance of match experience for Arshdeep Singh. Despite a solid performance during his time in England, Arun pointed out that Arshdeep still needs to find his rhythm. He played for North Zone in a Duleep Trophy match, but Arun believes the true rhythm comes from competitive play.

“Arshdeep has talent. He bowled a lot in England, yet he needs more match practice. It’s challenging for him to regain that feeling quickly,” Arun mentioned.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload

Regarding Jasprit Bumrah, Arun encourages him to play in all the matches. He feels that with only three Tests played during the England tour, Bumrah should be ready for the challenges of the Asia Cup.

“I’d love to see Jasprit in every game. It’s up to him, but I believe he can handle it. Keeping the flow going throughout the tournament is vital,” Arun added.

Bumrah’s stats in T20Is are impressive, with 89 wickets in 70 matches and a stellar economy rate of 6.27. His exceptional skills also earned him the Player of the Tournament title in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
