Atombeam Secures $20M Funding to Revolutionize Data Transmission with Innovative Codeword Technology

Atombeam Inc., a startup focused on better data transmission, has raised $20 million in funding.

This funding comes from a Reg A+ round, allowing everyday people to invest. Atombeam attracted over 6,500 investors for this initiative.

Based in Moraga, California, Atombeam is creating a unique technology called Data-as-Codewords. This software can shrink file sizes by up to 75%, making them quicker to send across networks. Additionally, it claims to enhance data security during transmission.

Traditional data compression finds repeated patterns in files, such as strings of letters, and reduces them to save space. Atombeam’s approach goes a bit further.

It first identifies these repeated patterns and condenses them. Then, it replaces them with unique placeholders called codewords. If a hacker manages to intercept a file, they’d only see these meaningless codewords instead of the actual data.

These codewords are randomly generated, making it impossible to reverse-engineer them to access the original files. Atombeam ensures that this technology is lossless, meaning no data is lost when files are scrambled.

Atombeam plans to launch two main products. The first, Neurpac, will be a cloud service to scramble and unscramble files using their technology, aided by artificial intelligence. This service will allow devices to send secure data over various networks.

The company envisions diverse applications, such as agricultural sensors sending data quickly to the cloud or vehicles transmitting diagnostics to manufacturers.

Their second product, Neurcom, is in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. It aims to speed up radar image transmission and is expected to launch in late 2025.

CEO Charles Yeomans emphasizes that reducing data size can expand bandwidth four times, enabling companies to access more data faster and at lower costs while using fewer resources.

The fresh funding will help Atombeam speed up product development and bring their technologies to market.
