Spring graduates from the University of Arkansas are invited to share their post-graduation plans through the First Destination Survey. This quick survey, which takes less than five minutes, can be accessed here or via email instructions.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to remind students about this important survey. The insights gathered help map out the career paths of U of A graduates. This resource is valuable not only for alumni but also for current and prospective students to understand potential career options.
In addition, the Offices of Career Connections recently launched the First Destination Dashboard. This interactive tool visualizes the survey data, allowing users to filter results by graduation year, college, major, degree level, career outcomes, and industry. As of 2023, about 70% of graduates secure employment within six months, according to recent statistics from the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
This initiative reflects a broader trend in higher education, where universities increasingly emphasize career outcomes. A study from the Pew Research Center revealed that 83% of students believe job prospects are a major factor in their college experience. Understanding peers’ successes can motivate new graduates and provide valuable networking opportunities.
The Offices of Career Connections work closely with all U of A colleges to compile data on graduate career outcomes. This information is reported to various agencies, such as the U.S. News & World Report and the Princeton Review, enhancing the university’s reputation and aiding in future student recruitment.
Participation in the survey is optional. It won’t affect your relationship with the university in any way. If you have any questions about being part of this survey, feel free to reach out to the university’s compliance coordinator at 479-575-2208 or via email at irb@uark.edu.
