“I’m really worried about where to live,” said Mckenzie Allen, a transfer student at Radford. She explained that off-campus housing options in the area are expensive, and many students rely on university accommodations for affordability and security.

As the academic year draws to a close, Mckenzie and her peers are feeling the pressure. “It’s hard to focus on finals and your classes when all you can think about is where you’re going to live,” she added. The concern over housing is becoming a significant distraction for students preparing for a new semester.

University officials understand these worries. They acknowledged that the uncertainty around housing is causing stress and frustration. In a recent statement, they said, “It’s still early to know how many students will secure on-campus housing. Our deposit deadline is May 1, and we won’t have a clear picture until after that date. We want to reassure everyone that we will adhere to our published policy regarding housing.”

This situation highlights a growing trend in many universities where increased enrollment can sometimes clash with available resources. A recent study by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators noted that 51% of universities are experiencing housing shortages due to rising enrollment.
