Augusta University’s Jaguars Fall to No. 19 Columbus State in Intense PBC Showdown

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women’s tennis team faced a tough challenge on Friday, losing 6-0 to No. 19 Columbus State in their Peach Belt Conference match at the Newman Tennis Center.

Columbus State dominated the doubles, clinching all three matches. Maria Gento and Andrea Gonzalez fell 6-2 in their opening doubles match. Similarly, Priscilla Landi and Julieta Palma lost 6-2 at No. 2, while Camila Taborga and Giovanna Patrocinio were swept 6-0 in the No. 3 spot.

In singles, Gento struggled at the top position, losing 6-3, 6-3. Gonzalez followed with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat. Landi showed resilience, pushing her match to three sets before ultimately falling 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

Taborga also extended her match to three sets but came up short with a final score of 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. Lastly, Patrocinio had a nail-biter, ending her match 7-5, 6-7, 12-10. The match involving Luciana Bejarano at No. 3 singles remained unfinished.
