Austin Peay State University Extends Softball Coach Kassie Stanfill’s Contract for Two More Years – Exciting News for Clarksville Sports!

Austin Peay State University (APSU) has exciting news for softball fans. Head coach Kassie Stanfill just signed a two-year contract extension, keeping her at the helm until 2027. This follows an impressive season for the Governors, including their best finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.

Gerald Harrison, the Athletics Director, praised Stanfill’s leadership. He said, “Coach Stanfill has built a championship team that embodies our values. The progress she’s made is remarkable, and I’m eager to see what’s next.”

Stanfill holds the record as the most successful coach in APSU softball history with 190 wins over seven seasons. In 2025, the team notched 39 wins, tying for the highest in the program’s history. They also achieved a record 14 wins in ASUN play and had a strong showing in postseason games.

Reflecting on her time at APSU, Stanfill expressed gratitude for the support she’s received: “It’s an incredible honor to lead this program. I’m excited to keep building something special and elevate our team’s reputation.”

Last season was particularly memorable. The Governors had a stunning 24-game winning streak, which started on February 14 and lasted until March 22, making it the longest winning streak in APSU Athletics history. They also secured their first win over a ranked team, defeating No. 22 Florida Atlantic.

Several standout players played key roles during this remarkable season. The team set multiple single-season records, including runs scored (342) and home runs (71). Nine players earned ASUN postseason honors, highlighting their talent and hard work.

Stanfill’s coaching has led to consistent success. She has guided the Governors to the conference tournament every season since she started, and her strategies have resulted in multiple seasons with 30 or more wins. With a winning percentage of .572, she is the most successful coach in the program’s history.

As the team prepares for the future, the APSU softball family looks forward to more exciting moments and continued growth under Stanfill’s leadership. The dedicated effort both on and off the field is a testament to the spirit of the Governors.
