Investigation into Missing Baby in Yucaipa
CABAZON, Calif. – A week ago, a 7-month-old boy named Emmanuel Haro went missing in Yucaipa. His mother, Rebecca Haro, claims she was attacked in a parking lot near a Big 5 store. When she woke up, she said her baby was gone.
Since then, questions have arisen about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department noted inconsistencies in Rebecca’s story. They reported, “Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview.” Because of this, investigators are treating Emmanuel’s case with caution, unsure if foul play is involved.
The situation has drawn attention to the boy’s father, Jake Haro, who has a history of legal issues. He pled guilty to willful cruelty to a child in 2018. Investigators seized his car as part of the evidence-gathering process. Jake is working with the police, according to his attorney.
As the search continues, deputies have not released any information about potential suspects. Over the weekend, police also searched the parents’ home in Cabazon using K-9 units. Interestingly, a fire broke out nearby on Tuesday, but authorities believe it was unrelated to the investigation.
Community response has been strong, with many expressing their outrage and concern on social media. Messages of hope and support for finding Emmanuel are flooding platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Parents and local residents are sharing tips on ways to stay safe, emphasizing the importance of looking out for one another.
Experts express that this case highlights the complexity of child welfare issues. Child welfare advocates remind us that many families face difficult situations. Keeping children safe often requires a community effort.
As the investigation unfolds, local authorities urge anyone with information to come forward. You can contact the sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904.
