Baylands Family Credit Union in West Point has received the Desjardins Financial Education Award for Virginia. This award highlights their efforts in promoting financial literacy within the community.

Teresa Millis, the President and CEO, expressed joy about the recognition. She emphasized that this achievement showcases the team’s commitment to helping members on their financial journeys. Baylands believes that understanding finances is essential for building strong communities. They strive to provide valuable resources to assist members in achieving their financial goals.

The award recognizes Baylands for its diverse approach to financial education. This includes various workshops, online tools, and personalized consultations tailored to meet the unique needs of their members.

Baylands also collaborates with local organizations to broaden its financial literacy programs. Recently, they launched the MoneyEDU Online Financial Wellness Center, providing even more resources for financial education.

Holly Burrow, the Director of Operations, added that the Virginia Credit Union League’s recognition inspires them to continue making financial education accessible for everyone. Their goal is to equip members with the necessary tools for financial success today and into the future.

Founded in 1946, Baylands Family Credit Union operates four branches. It’s part of the Co-Op Financial Services Network, serving a variety of communities. Individuals living, working, or studying in several counties, including Chesterfield and James City, can join, along with their immediate family members.
