Now, Sony has introduced the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, set to be available in the UK and Europe via their store and retailers like Amazon.
This isn’t just a simple fan for your neck. The Reon uses the Peltier effect, placing a cooled metal plate at the back of your neck. This delivers targeted cooling right where your body needs it, making it feel like a tiny ice pack.
Over the years, Sony has improved the device’s design and battery life. The latest Pro Plus model offers a 20% boost in cooling performance, reducing temperatures by about two degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit). It’s equipped with a new algorithm that better tracks temperature changes, ensuring a consistent cooling experience. Even with this more powerful setup, you can expect around 10 hours of use on the second-highest cooling setting.
A notable design upgrade is the new fins that hold the Reon in place. Sony claims these make it 40% more stable. Graphics shared by the company show enhanced cooling effects, indicating that it can maintain lower temperatures longer.
The overall design remains similar to the original Reon Pocket Pro, snugly fitting against your neck. It comes with an adjustable fin that better accommodates different neck shapes. A silent fan helps circulate air, and there’s an automatic shutdown feature to prevent overheating.
The Pro Plus also includes a new accessory: the Pocket Tag. This smaller device monitors temperature and humidity, helping the Reon adjust its cooling in real-time. You’ll also find a companion app for further customization, but the Reon can operate independently without it.
Pricing is set at £199 in the UK and €220 in Europe, but the US availability is still unconfirmed. As heatwaves become more common, devices like the Reon Pocket Pro Plus could become essential.
