Oregon State Women’s Golf Team Shines at Mercedes-Benz Championship

The Oregon State women’s golf team is having a remarkable fall season. They recently secured a second-place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. Senior Kyra Ly also made headlines by sharing the individual title, showcasing one of the best performances in the team’s history.

At the Cherokee Country Club, the Beavers recorded a score of 848, which is 4-under par for the tournament. Tennessee took the top spot with a score of 839, finishing 13-under par.

So far this fall, Oregon State has impressively finished second at the Leadership and Golf Invitational, won the Molly Collegiate Invitational, and now placed second again at the Mercedes-Benz Championship. It’s a strong showing for the team.

Kyra Ly, hailing from Portland, had an outstanding performance, totaling scores of 68, 68, and 66 for an 11-under 202. This score ties for the second-lowest three-round total in Oregon State history. The record is held by Ellie Slama, who scored 16-under 199 in the spring of 2025.

Ly’s achievements don’t stop there. She’s now earned three individual titles during her time at Oregon State, coming in first at the Juli Inkster Invitational and the Causeway Invitational in previous seasons. This year, she has already notched six rounds under par and three Top 5 finishes. With 11 career Top 10 finishes, she ranks fourth in the school’s history, trailing only a few notable players.

Another standout, junior Raya Nakao from Hawaii, finished tied for sixth place with a score of 210. This marks her second Top 10 finish of the season and her tenth overall.

Freshman Kate Nakaoka is also making her mark. She had a solid start to her college career, finishing 13th in her first tournament and showing promise with her play in subsequent events.

The Beavers will close out their fall season with the Nanea Invitational in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, from October 27 to 29.

This season, Oregon State is not just winning—it’s building a legacy. The talents of players like Ly and Nakao have fans excited. With the team’s continued hard work, the future looks bright.
