Beavers Shatter School Record at High Performance Meet: Oregon State University Athletics Shines!

Exciting Day for Oregon State Track and Field

Oregon State University’s track and field team had an amazing first day at their home meet, breaking nine records. The atmosphere was electric as fans cheered on their athletes.

Freshman Maddy Juhler stole the show with a stunning pole vault of 3.94 meters (12 feet, 11 inches), setting a new school record. Juhler’s jump was over a foot and a half higher than her previous best. This remarkable achievement instantly put her at the top of OSU’s all-time list.

Dede Norman also had a strong performance, winning the long jump with a season-best leap of 5.82 meters (19 feet, 1 quarter inch). Teammate Delaney Bahn wasn’t far behind, achieving a jump of 5.80 meters (19 feet).

In her first collegiate hurdle race, Megan Hatcher secured third in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:03.2. Meanwhile, Katie Gelston dominated the discus throw with a remarkable distance of 52.56 meters (172 feet, 5 inches), leaving her closest competitor far behind. Markayla Billings placed second in the hammer throw with a throw of 53.84 meters (176 feet, 7 inches).

The 200 meters saw the Beavers sweep the podium, marking three new entries in the school’s top-10 list. Jada Hurley excited fans with a personal-best time of 23.95 seconds, now ranking her second all-time at OSU. Delaney Bahn and Riley Patera followed closely, clocking 24.26 and 24.32 seconds respectively, giving them spots five and six in the school’s history.

The 1,500 meters section featured several strong Beaver performances. In the invitational heat, Sydney Partyka finished third with a personal best of 4:20.86, putting her sixth in OSU history. Ruby Broadbent and Maya Baechler also made the all-time list with impressive runs, finishing in fourth and fifth.

Jamie Hamlin led the team in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing fifth in 10:21.79, a personal best that ranks third all-time for OSU. Delaney Ulrich, running unattached, completed the steeplechase in 10:47.26.

Delaney Griffin and Molly Latincsics concluded the day with the 10,000-meter race, where Griffin made an impressive debut, finishing second in 34:38.28, which ranks her fourth at OSU.

As the excitement continues, tomorrow begins with the javelin competition at 11:00 a.m. Fans are eager to see what their Beaver athletes will achieve next!
