Belgrade Food Truck Spreads Love This Thanksgiving: Offering Two Free Meals for Families in Need!

Belgrade’s Heartfelt Thanksgiving Gesture

As Thanksgiving approaches, one Belgrade food truck is bringing warmth to families in need. Megan Smith, the owner of Ms. Sippi’s Southern Cuisine, is making a special effort this year.

“I felt a strong urge to help,” Megan shares. Originally from Mississippi, she opened her food truck in 2021. She has always loved cooking, thanks to lessons from her dad and grandmother. She switched from a career in accounting to food service, inspired by the vibrant food truck scene at local events.

Megan’s food truck fills a gap in the area for Southern and Cajun cuisine, with shrimp po’boys being a standout dish. Now, she’s using her passion for cooking to make a difference. This Thanksgiving, she is preparing free meals for two local families who are struggling.

Megan explains, “With the way things are economically, this is the right time to help.” After receiving many requests, she chose two families whose stories moved her the most. One family, currently living in a camper, said they wouldn’t have had a Thanksgiving dinner without her support.

For these meals, Megan is cooking up a feast: bacon green beans, mashed potatoes, cornbread, turkey, ham, and apple pie. She plans to deliver the meals personally, spreading holiday cheer.

This generous act reflects a growing trend in community support during the holidays. According to recent data, 49% of Americans say they want to give back during the holiday season, a number that has increased in recent years due to economic challenges.

Megan’s love for her craft shines through in her mission to help others. She says, “Cooking is my love language.” And while this year’s Thanksgiving may be difficult for many, gestures like hers remind us of the power of community and kindness.
