In a thrilling game on Thursday, the Belmont women’s basketball team defeated Drake University 67-52. Junior guard Jailyn Banks stood out, scoring a career-high 26 points. Helping her was sophomore guard Quinn Eubank, who secured a double-double for the Bruins.

The game took a turn in the second half. After a slow start, Belmont outscored Drake 41-27. Banks was on fire, scoring 22 of her points in the last 20 minutes. The Bruins’ defense was strong, limiting Drake to just 34% shooting overall and only 3-of-14 from three-point range. In the crucial fourth quarter, Belmont shot 58.3% from the field and made 7 of 8 free throws.

Additionally, the Bruins excelled on the boards, grabbing 41 rebounds compared to Drake’s 35. They forced 19 turnovers, leading to 26 points. Their aggressive defense included 13 steals, with nine occurring in the second half alone.

This win marked Belmont’s first regular-season sweep against Drake, reaffirming their strong performance in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Looking ahead, the Bruins will face Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Saturday. The game starts at 2 PM and will be available to watch on ESPN+.
