ROSCOE, Ill. (WIFR) – Beloit Health System is working to turn the NorthPointe Wellness Facility in Roscoe into a community hospital. The goal is to provide better access to quality healthcare for residents in Roscoe and the greater Winnebago County area.
Roger Kapoor, the vice president of the system, shared that they recently submitted additional information to clarify their plans for the new hospital. Their initial proposal was rejected by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board, but the team regrouped and is set to present a revised proposal in March.
Kapoor noted that their new plan aligns with a recently approved project from a competitor, who is opposing their efforts. This updated proposal includes several key features, such as a 24/7 emergency department, inpatient beds, expanded testing services, and more specialized care.
“This initiative aims to fill a crucial gap in local healthcare,” Kapoor explained. The new facility would help reduce long travel times for residents needing emergency care, especially those who currently have to go to Rockford or even across state lines.
Community feedback has been positive so far. Local member Brandon Ingram expressed his support, stating, “This is great for the community. The area has room to grow, and I believe this will bring nothing but positive changes for Roscoe and the Stateline area.”
Kapoor encourages residents to share their thoughts and stay involved in the process, as community input is vital in strengthening the proposal.
