Bharat Electronics Secures ₹1,220 Crore Contract from Defence Ministry to Deliver 149 SDR and DCT Systems to Indian Coast Guard – Latest Industry Update

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has recently signed a significant deal with the Ministry of Defence. They will supply Software Defined Radios (SDR) and Data Communication Terminals (DCT) to the Indian Coast Guard. This order is worth Rs 1,034 crore, not including taxes.

These advanced radios are developed in collaboration with the Defence Electronics Application Laboratory (DEAL) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). They are designed to handle multiple bands and channels, making them versatile for various missions. The DCT system ensures smooth communication between ships and the shore, ensuring accuracy and security during critical operations.

Additionally, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the contract, totaling Rs 1,220.12 crore, falls under the “Buy (Indian-IDDM)” category. This initiative supports the Indian Coast Guard’s mission, aligning with the government’s goals for maritime security and the Blue Economy. It also emphasizes the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which aims to boost local manufacturing of military-grade communication equipment, create jobs, and develop technical skills.

Recent Developments for BEL

In recent months, BEL has been busy. They reported receiving orders worth Rs 258 crore since February 8, 2025. These include contracts for satellite communication stations, laser range finders, command and control systems, and various communication equipment. With these new orders, BEL’s total order value for this financial year has reached Rs 13,147 crore.

Investors are taking note too. As of the latest trading session, BEL shares were up by 2.68%, reaching a value of Rs 260.20.
