Bharat Forge Partners with Windracers: A Strategic MoU to Revolutionize UAV Operations in India at DSEI UK 2025

Bharat Forge Limited, an Indian giant in manufacturing, has teamed up with Windracers Limited, a UK-based drone innovator. They recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on deploying Windracers’ Ultra drones in India. This agreement took place during the DSEI UK 2025 event in London.

This collaboration comes at a pivotal moment, supported by the UK-India Free Trade Agreement, which aims to boost technological exchange between the two countries. It aligns with the India-UK Vision 2035 goals, fostering innovation in aerospace technologies.

The MoU launches with a two-year plan, allowing both companies to conduct trials and develop a comprehensive deployment strategy. The Ultra drones are expected to meet growing demands in both military and civil sectors, including logistics for the Indian Navy, Army, and Air Force.

Amit Kalyani, Joint MD of Bharat Forge, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting how the Ultra drone can enhance India’s drone capabilities. He noted its strength in delivering vital logistics in challenging terrains, which aligns with India’s Ministry of Defence’s long-term plans focused on unmanned logistics and dual-use technologies.

The Windracers Ultra drone has already proven its reliability in various international settings, including support for Antarctic missions. Its robust design allows it to operate in harsh environments like high-altitude areas and remote regions, addressing India’s specific needs for safe transportation over tough landscapes.

Simon Muderack, CEO of Windracers, shared that this collaboration marks a significant move towards maximizing the drone’s dual-use potential. By combining their years of research and development, they aim to bring strategic advantages to both defense and civilian sectors in India.

The Ultra drones are equipped with advanced mission control systems, enabling endurance flights of six to seven hours. Designed for diverse Indian landscapes, they promise to enhance the operational capabilities across the military and civilian domains.
