Big News: Xbox’s Highly Anticipated Fable Game Pushed Back to 2026 – What You Need to Know!

Microsoft has announced that the new Fable game will now launch in 2026, pushing it back from its original 2025 release date. Craig Duncan, head of Xbox Game Studios, shared the update during an interview on the official Xbox podcast.

Duncan said, “We are giving Fable more time to develop. It will launch in 2026 now. I know this isn’t the news fans wanted, but I truly believe the wait will be worth it. I have full confidence in the Playground team.”

Last year’s Xbox summer showcase featured some early gameplay that highlighted the characters and story of Fable. The game follows a hero named Humphry, who is pulled out of retirement when a mysterious figure threatens Albion. Microsoft also shared more gameplay footage recently.

Playground Games, known for the Forza Horizon series, is developing this version of Fable. Duncan explained, “They are bringing stunning visuals, engaging gameplay, and their unique British humor to create the most beautiful version of Albion yet.”

While fans wait for Fable, Microsoft has a packed lineup of Xbox games this year, including South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, The Outer Worlds 2, and possibly Gears of War: E-Day.
