Just two days ago, Blackmagic Design introduced the highly anticipated PYXIS 12K camera at a starting price of $4,995. However, this price has skyrocketed to $6,595—an increase of 32%. This jump is due to new tariffs on imported goods in the USA.
Grant Petty, the CEO of Blackmagic Design, initially confirmed the price during a livestream. Now, the updated price appears on their website. The new tariffs affect many products, not just the PYXIS. This price adjustment is specific to the US market, as prices remain unchanged in other countries.
According to Blackmagic’s official statement on Facebook, “Most products in the USA have increased and please check our website for details.” This means customers will face hiked prices across the board, especially as the rise in costs is expected to impact many imported products.
Interestingly, while Blackmagic prepared for the announcement of tariffs, the specific rates and affected products only became clear after the fact. This uncertainty has led to rapid adjustments in pricing.
US retailers like B&H have yet to update their listings for the PYXIS 12K, but changes are likely on the way.
In contrast, the price of the PYXIS 12K remains steady in Europe, listed at €4,855 plus VAT. The PYXIS Pro Handle is €999 in Europe but has jumped to $1,185 in the US, an increase from the previously expected $895.
