Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar on April 24, bringing exciting changes to the state’s rail system. Two new trains, the Amrit Bharat Express and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, will launch, contributing to a major upgrade in transportation.
These trains are part of Modi’s vision for modernizing Indian Railways. He has referred to them, along with Vande Bharat trains, as the "Triveni" of Indian rail travel. This highlights how Bihar is becoming central to the country’s railway network.
Dilip Kumar, from the Ministry of Railways, shared that the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will soon connect Jayanagar and Patna, following its recent launch on the Ahmedabad-Bhuj route. This train is designed for short intercity trips, boasting 16 air-conditioned coaches, an increase from the previous 12-coach model, and can carry over 2,000 passengers.
Safety and comfort are key features of the Namo Bharat train. It includes the Kavach system for automatic train protection, CCTV cameras in every coach, fire detection systems, and ergonomic seating designed for international standards. Additionally, it offers USB charging options, vacuum toilets, and automatic doors for added convenience.
The Amrit Bharat Express will connect Saharsa in Bihar to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai. It is a non-AC sleeper train, reaching speeds up to 130 km/h, promising to deliver a comfortable ride for long-distance travelers. This train is made under the Make-in-India initiative, incorporating modern features like push-pull technology for smoother travel and enhanced safety measures.
Bihar’s railway improvements extend beyond these two trains. New passenger services will also launch, connecting Pipra to Saharsa and enhancing local transport. The Prime Minister will inaugurate new rail projects that will improve connectivity in the region.
The addition of these advanced trains and infrastructure shows the government’s commitment to improving travel safety and convenience, particularly benefiting residents in North Bihar and the Mithila region. With more Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat trains now operational, Bihar is poised for a transportation revolution.
Recent data indicates that rail travel in India is on the rise, reflecting a growing demand for efficient and modern transport solutions. As rail services expand, expectations for a connected and self-reliant India continue to grow. These developments are not just about trains; they are about shaping the future of travel for millions of people.
