Binghamton University has announced its honorary degree recipients for the 2026 Commencement. This year’s honorees are alumni Nana Banerjee, William H. Groner, and Susan Marenoff-Zausner. Here’s a bit about each of them:
Nana Banerjee, PhD ’96
Banerjee is a driven leader in business and investment, focusing on companies that seek to make a difference. Previously, he was the CEO of Pelmorex, where he worked on apps to provide personalized climate insights. At McGraw-Hill Education, he helped integrate technology into educational services, driving global growth. Banerjee has also held key roles at firms like Cerberus Capital Management and Verisk, and he contributes to numerous boards, including the Binghamton University Foundation. He remains deeply connected to his roots, mentoring students and establishing scholarships.
William H. Groner ’77
Groner is a dedicated lawyer and social entrepreneur. He co-founded Worby Groner Edelman LLP and worked on complex litigation cases, especially for first responders after 9/11. His efforts contributed to an $800 million settlement for those affected. Additionally, he’s the founder of Settle Systems, which focuses on alternative dispute resolution. Groner is passionate about education and community, frequently visiting Binghamton to inspire students and create curriculum-focused on dialogue and empathy.
Susan Marenoff-Zausner ’87
As the president of the Intrepid Museum in New York City, Marenoff-Zausner has transformed it into a well-respected cultural hub. Under her leadership, the museum expanded and renovated, introducing attractions like the Space Shuttle Enterprise. It now serves over a million visitors annually and has significantly increased its outreach programs, especially in STEM education for youth. Her diverse background includes notable roles in sports marketing and business development.
