Mindy Kaling recently got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and it was a big moment for her. Her friend B.J. Novak, who co-starred with her on “The Office,” gave a heartfelt and funny speech about her. He playfully pointed out that Mindy enjoys being famous, even if it’s not something she initially expected.
“Mindy really gets it,” Novak joked. He praised her not just for her talent as a showrunner but also for being a great mom and friend. “In her spare time, I assure you, she’s very superficial,” he quipped, making the audience laugh.
Novak expressed pride in how well Mindy has navigated her fame. “We always knew you’d be famous, but we never imagined you’d handle it so beautifully,” he said sincerely.
When it was her turn to speak, Kaling warmly thanked Novak, calling him a vital part of her life. “Sometimes I forget we met through work,” she said, smiling. Kaling added that she’s still in awe of him, just like she was when they first met years ago.
Mindy Kaling is widely loved for her role as Kelly Kapoor on “The Office,” which aired from 2005 to 2013. Not only did she act in the show, but she also wrote and produced it, leaving a lasting mark on the series.
After “The Office,” she created, wrote, and starred in “The Mindy Project.” More recently, she has worked on HBO’s “Sex Lives of College Girls.” Mindy has also appeared in popular films like “Late Night,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” and “Ocean’s 8.”
At the Walk of Fame ceremony, Kaling humorously said, “This is one of the times where I’m just gonna force myself to be in the moment.” With a big smile, she added, “I’m so happy. I love recognition, and this is just incredibly nice.”
