After years of waiting, Iron Maiden will finally be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2026. It’s not just the original members being celebrated; former singers Paul Di’Anno and Blaze Bayley will also be recognized. Sadly, Di’Anno passed away in October 2024, but his contributions to the band will always be remembered.
Blaze Bayley recently shared his thoughts in an interview with Metal Hammer. He expressed amazement at the announcement, saying, “It’s crazy! I wanted to be like Ronnie James Dio, who is already in the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame. Being included here feels wild!” He highlights that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame encompasses various music genres, making it a grand achievement for him and the band.
Fans have reacted positively, flooding Bayley with messages of congratulations. He feels honored to join other legendary artists, noting the importance of the recognition. He said, “It feels like a real privilege to be nominated alongside such multi-platinum artists.” This sentiment reflects the strong emotions tied to the Hall’s credibility in the music industry.
Iron Maiden’s past feelings toward the Hall have been mixed. In 2022, Bruce Dickinson called it an “utter load of bollocks.” Meanwhile, bassist Steve Harris admitted in 2023 that he never paid much attention to the recognition. Yet, their manager, Rod Smallwood, mentioned that, while the band values their relationship with fans above awards, being recognized feels good. He wrote, “Having said that, it’s always nice to be honored for any achievements within the music industry too!”
This year’s lineup of inductees also includes Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Oasis, and Wu-Tang Clan, among others. The official induction ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on November 14, with a broadcast expected on Hulu and Disney+ in December.
2026 is a big year for Iron Maiden as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. They will host a multi-day festival in Knebworth in July, with Blaze Bayley headlining the opening night. Additionally, the band will continue their Run For Your Lives World Tour, kicking off in May, with shows across Europe, North America, and South America, wrapping up in Japan on November 25. They have indicated that this could be their last show until at least 2028.
With such a significant milestone ahead, Iron Maiden’s legacy continues to grow. As they prepare for the Hall of Fame induction and celebrate their long career, their impact on metal music remains undeniable. This blend of past achievements and future aspirations will surely resonate with fans and keep the spirit of Iron Maiden alive for years to come.
