Boche Shines with Two Goals, Paving the Way for SJU’s Victory Over Hamline!

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Saint John’s hockey team triumphed over Hamline with a final score of 4-2 on January 29 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Junior forward Cam Boche took center stage, scoring twice and playing a key role in this hard-fought victory.

Both teams struggled in the first period, ending in a scoreless tie thanks to solid performances from junior goaltender Jon Howe and his Hamline counterpart. Boche broke the deadlock early in the second period with a power play goal, sneaking the puck into the net after a setup from freshman defenseman Cashen Naeve.

In the third period, the action picked up. Logan Lyke scored quickly, giving Saint John’s a strong lead. Boche then netted his second goal, showcasing impressive skill by intercepting a pass and scoring on a backhand shot.

Despite some late-game penalties, Hamline capitalized on a couple of power plays, but it was too late. Senior defenseman Conner Couet sealed the deal with an empty-net goal, ensuring the win for the Johnnies.

Four players from Saint John’s finished with two points each, helping the team secure its place solidly in the league rankings. Howe recorded his eighth win of the season, making this his fifth game with 40 or more saves.

Looking ahead, Saint John’s will face Hamline again on January 31 at 7 p.m. at TRIA Ice Rink in St. Paul. This matchup holds promise as both teams look to improve their standings. As for now, the Johnnies are on a roll, and fans are excited to see what’s next.
