Today, the Los Angeles Chargers announced they’ve activated running backs Omarion Hampton and Hassan Haskins, along with defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia, from Reserve/Injured. To clear roster space, they placed tight end Tucker Fisk on Reserve/Injured and waived defensive lineman Naquan Jones and running back Jaret Patterson. They also promoted wide receiver Dalevon Campbell from the practice squad for Monday’s game.
Omarion Hampton, the team’s first-round pick this season, has made an impressive start. In just five games, he’s accumulated 314 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns on 66 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per attempt. He’s also made 20 catches for 136 yards. His standout performance came in Week 4, where he rushed for 128 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown run, averaging an incredible 10.7 yards per carry.
Hampton wrapped up his college career at North Carolina as one of the top running backs in the nation, finishing second nationally with 3,164 rushing yards over two years. In 2023 and 2024, he was the only running back to exceed 1,500 rushing yards and score 15 touchdowns in the same season. His tally of 19 100-yard games ranks among the top three in the nation during his college tenure, leading to multiple honors, including a second-team All-America nod from the Associated Press.
Hassan Haskins joined the Chargers after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2022. He has recorded 212 rushing yards and two touchdowns through his career, along with 18 catches for 119 yards. Haskins has also contributed strongly on special teams with 26 tackles, 13 with the Chargers alone. A former team captain at Michigan, he earned third-team All-America honors and tied for fourth in the nation with 20 rushing touchdowns in his senior year.
Defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia, now in his fourth year, has 21 starts in 37 games for the Chargers, including last season’s playoffs. He recorded 37 tackles last regular season and has a total of 73 tackles over his career. Drafted in the fifth round in 2022, Ogbonnia also excelled at UCLA, achieving second-team All-Pacific-12 honors and meeting the academic standards for the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll multiple times.
Dalevon Campbell, who spent time with the Chargers during training camp, has previously played for the Carolina Panthers. At South Carolina, he finished his college career with 88 receptions for 1,471 yards and three touchdowns across 60 games. In 2023, he was recognized as an honorable mention in the All-Mountain West after leading his team with a 26.0-yard receiving average in his final season.
The Chargers are making strategic moves as they aim for a strong season. These player returns and new additions could significantly impact their overall performance on the field, especially as the competition heats up.
