Boost Your Game: Get Sports Physicals and Essential Immunizations at Essentia Health-Park Rapids Clinic!

Essentia Health is making it easier for student-athletes to gear up for the 2025-26 sports season. This summer, they’ll hold sports physical and immunization events in June and July.

These events will take place at the Essentia Health-Park Rapids Clinic at 705 Pleasant Ave. S. Here’s the schedule:

• Wednesday, June 25: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, July 9: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, July 16: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

These clinics are open to everyone, regardless of age, and vaccinations will be available too.

Sports physicals are essential for kids who want to participate in school sports. They help identify any health concerns that could impact performance or increase injury risks. Plus, if you schedule your child’s sports physical after April 13, it will be valid for three years! You can find the necessary forms on the Minnesota State High School League’s website at mshsl.org.

A sports physical can be done on its own or as part of a well-child visit. These comprehensive visits are also a great opportunity to assess your child’s overall health, covering growth, development, and mental well-being.

Athletes will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’re paying out of pocket, the cost for a sports physical is $57. You don’t need to be a previous patient at Essentia to participate.

Interestingly, a recent study by the American Academy of Pediatrics found that over 60% of parents are unaware of the importance of regular sports physicals. With much emphasis on youth sports, it’s crucial for parents to prioritize these check-ups to keep their kids healthy and active.
