Amman – Monday, 10 February 2025 – The SRTF has approved two new projects in Aleppo and one in Northeast Syria, focusing on Food Security, Agriculture, and Livelihoods.
The first project is part of Phase VIII of the Food Security initiative, titled “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate”. This 18-month project will provide soft wheat, helping to keep bread affordable and improve its quality. It has a budget of EUR 2.15 million and will support around 95,000 people each month. There will also be six months set aside for monitoring and evaluation after completion.
Next, we have Phase II of the Livelihoods project, named “Enhancing Livelihoods and Housing in Deir-ez-Zor”. This project aims to improve living conditions by rehabilitating shelters, promoting small-scale farming, and offering Cash-for-Work programs. With a budget of around EUR 2.59 million, it plans to benefit about 17,700 individuals, including internally displaced people and returnees from Al Hol. The duration is set for 10 months.
In the Agriculture sector, the project “Enhancing the Productivity, Resilience, and Sustainability of Livestock Farming in As-Sweida Rural Communities” focuses on helping farmers improve their livestock management and veterinary practices. This project will also provide training and resources for sustainable farming, with a budget of EUR 159,000. It aims to directly benefit 115 individuals and indirectly help 250 others over a six-month period.
Eng. Hani Khabbaz, the SRTF’s Director General, expressed his excitement about these initiatives: “I am thrilled to announce the approval of three new projects that will address crucial needs in various sectors. Our goal is to provide essential food supplies and rehabilitate homes, ultimately improving the resilience and living conditions of Syrian families. Our efforts are essential now more than ever. With the support of our generous donors, we are committed to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people and expanding our aid to new areas.”
