The Santa Ynez Valley Foundation has given grants to eight local nonprofits working hard to fight food insecurity in the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos. This support aims to ensure that more people have access to food they need.
As part of its latest funding round, the foundation also awarded special one-time grants of $5,000 to five groups. These extra funds help boost food access efforts even more.
One notable recipient, Bethania Food Distribution, received its grant in a special ceremony with board members Spencer Turnbull and Michael Nicola present. This organization relies on volunteers and assists hundreds of households each week. They provide crucial food supplies and nutrition support for both infants and seniors.
Other groups that benefited include Atterdag at Home, People Helping People, Santa Ynez Valley Community Outreach, and Veggie Rescue, which focuses on rescuing and distributing food. Additional support went to Feed the Valley, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, and the Rona Barrett Foundation.
The Santa Ynez Valley Foundation is set to begin its next grant cycle on March 1, focusing on youth and education. This ongoing commitment reflects the foundation’s dedication to improving the community and addressing its pressing needs.
