Border Patrol Chief Required to Report Daily in Court on Chicago Enforcement Efforts

A federal judge has ordered Gregory Bovino, a senior border patrol official, to appear in court every weekday. This unusual step aims to supervise the government’s immigration operations in Chicago, especially after reports of excessive force used against residents.

The order follows a recent incident where federal agents used tear gas on a neighborhood preparing for a Halloween parade. Judge Sara Ellis made it clear that children in costumes are not a threat. “You can’t use riot control weapons against them,” she emphasized.

There have been multiple complaints about the force used by agents under the Trump administration’s “Operation Midway Blitz,” which has led to over 3,000 arrests since September.
