Boston University Terriers Shine on Final Day of PL Championships: Watch the Milers’ Impressive Pace!


LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Boston University men’s swimming and diving team had an impressive final day at the Patriot League Championships held at Kinney Natatorium. Freshmen Giovanni Sullo and Charles Schreiner stood out in the 1650-yard freestyle, securing third and fourth places with personal best times of 15:21.69 and 15:23.71, respectively.

Sophomore Zein Mahan also made his mark, finishing sixth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 291.35. Senior Andy Carlson capped off his collegiate career by placing 10th in the 200 breaststroke, hitting a personal best of 2:00.22.

Thanks to these strong performances, the Terriers scored a total of 625.5 points, finishing in fifth place for the fifth consecutive year at this championship event.

In the 200-yard backstroke, BU showcased a cluster of talent with four swimmers finishing in the top 20. Sophomore Jonny Farber led the group, placing 15th in a time of 1:49.05. He was closely followed by junior Tony Ponomarev in 16th (1:50.71), senior Keegan Duffy in 17th (1:48.84), and freshman Bradley Watters in 19th (1:49.41). Duffy and freshman Galen Carter (23rd, 1:52.12) both achieved personal bests.

In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Charlie Nenchev and sophomore David Kohan placed 21st and 22nd, respectively, with times of 45.28 and 45.61.

Carlson was not the only senior to shine; fellow senior Nathan Herman claimed 13th in the 200 breast, while junior Jackson Hogue secured 19th place with a time of 2:03.81.

In the 200-yard butterfly, freshman Diego Rosario dominated the C final, winning it in a personal best of 1:47.71. Sophomore Evan Liu finished just behind him in 18th place, also recording his best time at 1:49.24.

Senior Dolan Grisbaum concluded his time representing BU with a 13th-place finish in the mile, clocking in at 15:44.42. Overall, the team displayed remarkable talent and determination throughout the championships.
