BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing team recently competed in the 60th Head of the Charles Regatta. The event took place at the DeWolfe Boathouse, a lively spot for rowers and fans alike.
On Saturday, the Terriers kicked things off with the Women’s Championship Double. Senior Zoe Meurer and freshman Ava Kennedy made a strong showing, finishing in 18:49.273. This earned them sixth place overall and the top collegiate time, highlighting their skill and teamwork.
The following day, BU entered two crews in the Lightweight Fours. The first crew, coxed by Amna Rezvi and stroked by Cece Mason, finished fourth overall and second among collegiate teams with a time of 18:18.559. Their teammates, coxed by Lylah Nag and stroked by Emilia Vukasinovic, weren’t far behind. They secured fifth place overall and third among collegians, finishing at 18:55.591.
The Lightweight Eight crew, coxed by Mira Saldanha and stroked by Caroline Burchette, capped off the weekend with a respectable fifth-place finish in 16:48.934.
The event also saw many alumnae return to compete. These former athletes joined forces with the openweight rowing team, finishing 27th in the Women’s Alumnae Eights with a time of 18:06.326. Alumna Sarah Maietta also raced in the Women’s Championship Singles, finishing 19th in 20:48.834.
