Bowe Bentley, Ranked No. 5 QB by On3, Chooses Oklahoma: ‘A Dream Come True!’

Bowe Bentley, the talented quarterback from Celina High in Texas, has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners. His decision gives Oklahoma a significant boost in their recruitment efforts.

This weekend, Bentley made a trip back to Norman and announced his commitment in person to head coach Brent Venables and the coaching staff.

“Great day,” he remarked. Bentley had taken his official visit in June and spent time reflecting on the experience. He emphasized a unique feeling he had during his visit, noting, “I haven’t felt that anywhere else.”

The four-star recruit chose Oklahoma over strong offers from LSU, Georgia, and Ohio State. New offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle recognized Bentley’s potential early and extended an offer shortly after joining the team. Arbuckle previously worked with quarterback John Mateer, who made a significant impact during his time at Washington State. Additionally, Cam Ward, the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, thrived under Arbuckle’s guidance. Bentley connected with Ward, which reinforced his sense of priority within the program.

“Talking to Cam Ward and hearing his thoughts made me feel wanted,” Bentley shared. He believes Oklahoma is on the rise and is eager to contribute to that progress: “I’m excited to be part of it and make a huge impact.”

Bentley is not just a new recruit; he has been an Oklahoma fan for years, attending countless games in Norman. “Everyone makes it feel like home. I can’t really describe it,” he said. “It’s pretty amazing, dream come true.”

According to On3, Bentley is recognized as the nation’s No. 5 quarterback and the No. 41 overall prospect. His recent performance at the Elite 11 Finals impressed many, with evaluators highlighting him as one of the top performers. He finished his pro day with a remarkable 18 of 20 passes completed and showcased his quick decision-making during 7-on-7 drills. As a dual-threat quarterback, he also revealed his running skills, having rushed for over 900 yards last season.

In his junior year, Bentley led his team to a state title, throwing for 3,330 yards and 47 touchdowns while completing 70% of his passes. He scored an additional 16 rushing touchdowns, demonstrating his versatility and talent on the field.
