Box Office Buzz: ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Soars to $610 Million Worldwide, While ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ and ‘Sinners’ Celebrate $350 Million Milestones!

Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” is making waves at the box office, racking up $610 million worldwide. It’s now the second-highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025. With its impressive numbers, it may soon outpace “A Minecraft Movie,” which has earned $947 million this year.

After just two weekends, “Lilo & Stitch” has brought in $330.7 million from international markets and $280.1 million domestically. Its latest weekend saw it pull in a whopping $113.1 million from 51 countries. The top countries contributing to its success include Mexico ($45.9 million), the UK ($34.5 million), France ($23.1 million), and Brazil ($21.6 million).

In other box office news, Paramount’s “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” and Warner Bros.’ “Sinners” have both crossed the $350 million mark. “The Final Reckoning,” which features Tom Cruise, earned $76.1 million internationally over the weekend, including a strong $25.2 million from China. With a budget of around $400 million, this film needs continued strong performances to turn a profit.

“Sinners,” directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, has grossed $350.1 million globally, with $83 million from overseas markets. It stands out as one of the top ten highest-grossing films so far this year, especially as it’s an original story rather than a sequel or reboot.

In contrast, Sony’s “Karate Kid: Legends” struggled at the box office, making only $12 million from 43 markets this past weekend. It has earned $26 million overseas and $47 million worldwide since its international rollout began in May. Picking up three years after “Cobra Kai,” the film introduces a new student learning the ropes of martial arts from Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han.

New releases have had a mixed reception. The horror thriller “Bring Her Back” only pulled in $1 million across eight markets but started strong in the U.S. with $7 million. Directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, known for “Talk to Me,” the film tells the chilling tale of two step-siblings uncovering an unsettling ritual.

Wes Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme” has also entered the scene, earning $4.1 million from 41 markets for a total of $6.7 million so far. This film features a star-studded cast and offers a look into the life of a wealthy businessman surrounded by schemers and assassins after naming his daughter, a nun, heir to his estate.

This box office season showcases a variety of genres, from animated adventures to high-stakes thrillers. Each film reflects current trends and audience preferences, adding richness to the cinematic landscape of 2025.
