Brandeis University Baseball Stars Shine: Two Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Two standout players from the Brandeis University softball team have earned spots on the 2026 Division III Academic All-District teams, chosen by the College Sports Communicators.

To qualify for these honors, players must be sophomores or older. They need to have played a significant role in their team’s games and maintain a GPA of at least 3.50. The criteria are tough, showcasing both athletic and academic excellence.

The two players acknowledged are:

  • Ben Kuja: A sophomore third baseman from Madison, Connecticut. He has an impressive GPA of 3.98 while majoring in psychology and business.
  • Keith Lee: A sophomore catcher/designated hitter from Milford, Massachusetts. His GPA stands at 3.60, and he is studying education.

Recognition in sports is crucial, especially at the college level, where balancing academics and athletics can be challenging. The success of Kuja and Lee highlights the commitment of student-athletes not only to their sport but also to their studies.

In 2021, a study showed that only about 20% of college athletes achieve such high academic standards while competing. This makes the accomplishments of Kuja and Lee even more remarkable.
