Bills owner Terry Pegula recently highlighted receiver Keon Coleman as a key player in the team’s future during a press conference after firing former head coach Sean McDermott. New head coach Joe Brady and General Manager Brandon Beane have rallied behind Coleman as he approaches his third season in the NFL.
In a press conference at the scouting combine, Beane shared what the Bills need to see from Coleman moving forward. He emphasized the importance of consistency: “We need to see Keon have an offseason like last year. His work ethic was outstanding. He came ready to go, and it showed during training camp.”
Beane acknowledged that maturity, both on and off the field, will play a crucial role in Coleman’s development. He stated, “I’ve been in the league for nearly 29 years, and I’ve seen how off-field issues can hinder players’ growth. The challenge for Keon is to maintain that focus.”
Coleman, drafted 33rd overall in 2024, has shown promise. In 2025, he made 38 receptions for 404 yards and scored four touchdowns in just 13 games, including six starts. This followed a solid rookie season where he caught 29 passes for 556 yards and four touchdowns.
Historically, players face pressure in their early years to mature both on and off the field. A recent survey by the NFL Players Association indicated that nearly 60% of players felt that personal issues affected their performance, highlighting the importance of support systems.
As Coleman steps into this pivotal season, the team’s optimism may hinge on his ability to balance on-field performance with personal growth. The Bills’ coaching staff is eager to work with him, aiming to help him reach his potential.
