The cause of death for Chauncy Glover, a news anchor from KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles, has been revealed. Glover, who was 39, died from a mix of chloroethane and methamphetamine, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. They classified his death as an accident.

Chloroethane is a colorless gas often used in medicine. It helps numb the skin before procedures like ear piercings and skin biopsies, and it can be used to treat sports injuries.

Glover was found unresponsive at his home on November 5, 2024, and was declared dead at the scene.

A talented journalist, Glover won three News Emmy awards. He joined KCAL News in October 2023 after spending eight years with ABC affiliate KTRK in Houston. At KCAL, he co-anchored various newscasts alongside Pat Harvey and Suzie Suh.

Glover had a passion for news from a young age. His interest ignited at just five years old when his dad crafted a mini anchor desk for him. This allowed him to perform newscasts for his family every Sunday. He later pursued a degree in broadcast journalism, music, and theater at Troy University in Alabama.

A couple of years later, he joined CBS 47 and Fox 30 in Jacksonville, Florida, gaining experience as a special projects and general assignment reporter. He then moved to WDIV in Detroit, where he became a lead late-night reporter. During his time in Detroit, Glover founded The Chauncy Glover Project, aimed at mentoring teenage boys. His dedication earned him recognition as Ambassador of the Year for his work with youth in the city.

Beyond reporting, Glover was a motivational speaker recognized by President Barack Obama for his mentorship efforts. His commitment to helping others truly made a difference.

Following his passing, Glover’s family shared their heartbreak. They described him as more than just a son and brother; he was a guiding light in their lives and a hero to his community.
