An arrest has been made in relation to the death of Adan Manzano, a sports reporter from Kansas City. He was found dead in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, on February 5 while covering Super Bowl LIX.
The police have arrested Danette Colbert from Slidell, Louisiana. She was allegedly seen on surveillance footage leaving Manzano’s room and using his credit card at various stores. She faces charges of fraud and theft, though the investigation is still ongoing.
Colbert has a troubling background. She has been accused of financial crimes in the past, including drugging men to steal from them.
The coroner’s office reported that there were no obvious signs of trauma on Manzano’s body as they continue to investigate the cause of his death.
Adan Manzano worked for Telemundo Kansas City and was known for his professionalism and passion for sports. His station praised him, calling him a rising star. They expressed deep condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
Originally from Mexico City, Manzano moved to Topeka, Kansas, in 2018 after graduating from Kansas State. He had been with Telemundo since 2021 and was preparing to cover his third Super Bowl. Additionally, he was part of the Spanish broadcast team for Tico Sports, where he served as a sideline reporter for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Manzano leaves behind his young daughter, Eleanor. Tragically, his wife, Ashleigh, died in a car accident last April. He was not just a dedicated reporter but also a devoted father and a beloved friend.
