Breaking News: Daniel Craig Exits DC Studios’ Highly Anticipated War Film ‘Sgt. Rock’ – What It Means for Fans!

Daniel Craig won’t be starring in Sgt. Rock, a planned DC Comics movie. This film would have marked his debut in the DC universe and reconnected him with director Luca Guadagnino, who worked with him on Queer.

Sgt. Rock features a character created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert back in 1959. He’s a tough leader of Easy Company during World War II. Over the years, this military hero has captivated comic book fans, making him one of DC’s longest-running characters.

Hollywood has tried to bring Sgt. Rock to life before, with stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis expressing interest, but no project materialized.

It’s not clear why Craig stepped away. Some sources suggest schedule conflicts with his wife, actress Rachel Weisz. Others speculate that his disappointment with Queer‘s performance at the box office and during awards season may have influenced his decision.

Meanwhile, DC Studios is looking to move forward with the film. They aim to begin shooting this summer in the U.K. and are considering other actors for the lead role. One name that’s come up is Jeremy Allen White, among others.

DC did not respond to requests for comment.
