In Los Angeles, Lakers guard Austin Reaves had to leave the game against the Clippers in the first quarter due to soreness in his right calf. He won’t return, and an MRI is scheduled for Saturday to assess the injury.
Reaves had scored six points on 2-for-4 shooting before exiting. He left the court with just under three minutes left in the first quarter while the Lakers were down 21-13.
This season, Reaves has been playing some of the best basketball of his career. In February, he averaged 23.5 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds over 11 games, helping the Lakers achieve a strong 9-2 record during that stretch.
Adding to the Lakers’ challenges, they were already missing another starter, Rui Hachimura, who is sidelined with a left knee strain. Coach JJ Redick mentioned that Hachimura had an MRI on Friday, but there’s no clear timeline for his return.
In Hachimura’s absence, Dorian Finney-Smith started in the game against the Clippers. Gabe Vincent stepped into the starting lineup for the second half when Reaves went down.
