Breaking News: Stock Futures Rise as S&P 500 & Nasdaq Hit New Record Highs – Live Updates Inside!

A trader works on the New York Stock Exchange. Recently, stock futures rose after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite hit record closing highs.

S&P 500 futures climbed by 0.2%, while Nasdaq 100 futures saw a 0.18% increase. The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures also rose by 80 points, or 0.18%. Thursday was a positive day for both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, setting new all-time highs. The S&P 500 has now achieved 13 record closes this year alone.

Despite the Dow experiencing losses, all major averages are on track for weekly gains. The Dow is looking at a nearly 1% rise for the week, similar to the Nasdaq. The S&P 500 has increased about 1.1% this week.

Strong earnings are fueling this rally. For instance, Alphabet reported better-than-expected earnings. So far, about 83% of the 155 S&P 500 companies that have reported big beats on Wall Street’s expectations.

Keith Buchanan, a senior portfolio manager, noted, “This part of the rally needs to broaden out for more consistent growth.”

Trade deals are also influencing the markets. Recently, President Trump announced a major trade deal with Japan, featuring 15% reciprocal tariffs. Additionally, a framework for a trade agreement with Indonesia has been established.

Investors are keeping an eye on any future trade announcements as the U.S. approaches the August 1 tariff deadline. The Federal Reserve will meet next week, and it’s widely anticipated that interest rates will remain unchanged at the current range of 4.25% to 4.5%.

In a recent visit to the Fed, President Trump, who has been urging rate cuts, expressed less tension with Fed Chair Jerome Powell. He stated, “I believe he’s going to do the right thing,” easing concerns of a potential firing.

Overall, the current economic climate is marked by optimism surrounding corporate earnings and trade agreements, providing a sense of stability in the markets.
