Emergency responders are on site following an explosion and partial building collapse in the Bronx on Wednesday. Videos captured show severe damage on the side of a high-rise building.

According to the FDNY, it appears that the incinerator shaft of the 20-story structure may have fallen apart. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.

The explosion occurred around 8:10 a.m. at Mitchel Houses, located at 205 Alexander Avenue, near East 135th Street in Mott Haven. This particular building is one of eleven in the complex.

The blast dislodged bricks and debris, sending them crashing to the street below. In addition, water was observed bubbling up from the ground, potentially signaling a damaged pipe.

Firefighters are diligently searching through the debris, using drones and trained dogs to ensure no one is trapped. It is still unclear if residents have been evacuated or the building’s overall stability.

Utility company Con Edison and multiple agencies are responding to the situation. Streets in the vicinity are closed, causing significant traffic delays.
