Recently, it came to light that the CIA has been arming Kurdish groups in Iran as tensions rise. Camps like this one, run by the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), have become frequent targets for Iranian missiles and drones.
Amanj Zibaee, a KDPI leader, points to the damage left by Iranian attacks near their medical facility. “There are no military forces here, just civilians,” he notes, indicating the constant threat they face. “We only have some fighters to ensure safety.”

Meanwhile, Iran has threatened to target the Kurdistan Region of Iraq if the Kurdish fighters cross the border. This situation leaves the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government anxious about potential retaliation.
Even after the interview, Iranian missiles and drones were fired at the camp again, showing Tehran’s determination to act on its threats.
According to a recent study by the International Crisis Group, nearly 70% of Kurdish civilians in the region feel unsafe due to these tensions, highlighting the humanitarian impact of these military actions.
