Utah Governor Spencer Cox recently spoke out about the tragic shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested following a 30-hour manhunt. While he hasn’t cooperated with police, authorities say his family and friends have come forward.
Cox expressed deep concern, stating that the event is a direct assault on America. “If your view of America is not shaken right now, then there’s something wrong with you,” he said during an interview.
The investigation into the motive is ongoing. Interestingly, officials noted Robinson’s engagement in gaming and online culture. Cox revealed that casings from the weapon found at the scene were engraved with provocative messages, indicating a connection to online meme culture.
Reports from the New York Times highlighted that Robinson had been active on Discord after the shooting, initially joking about the incident before admitting responsibility. Investigators are still gathering evidence and interviewing people close to Robinson. They’ve also spoken with his roommate, who is transitioning and has been very cooperative with the investigation.
As more details unfold, official charges are expected soon, and the public remains eager for answers.
