President Donald Trump has been sticking close to home since taking office again. Most weekdays find him at the White House, while weekends are often spent at Mar-a-Lago, his resort in Florida.
This weekend, he’s bringing a new location into the mix: Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. This marks his first visit of the season to this club, which is just about an hour from Manhattan.
Trump is leaving the White House on Friday evening and plans to spend Saturday enjoying the golf club before heading to the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia.
His travels this year have mainly revolved around major sporting events. He’s already attended the Super Bowl in New Orleans and NASCAR’s Daytona 500. Notably, Trump often enjoys watching MMA events with his friend Dana White, the head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Compared to past presidents, Trump has traveled much less since returning to power. Earlier this year, he traveled to North Carolina and California to assess damage from storms and wildfires. Beyond Florida, he hasn’t ventured to other states since then. Interestingly, aides mention that Trump likes to welcome visitors to the White House rather than going out on the road.
In the first 60 days of his administration, Trump has spent 18 nights at his Florida home, including nearly every weekend. Previously, he often criticized Joe Biden for spending weekends at his home in Delaware.
Typically, Trump doesn’t visit his New Jersey club until May, after the Mar-a-Lago season wraps up. However, this early trip shows he’s ready to mix things up. Expect him back at his Florida home soon, which he dubs the “Winter White House.”
