Jordan Addison, a receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, was arrested early Monday morning in Tampa, Florida, for misdemeanor trespassing. This marks his third run-in with law enforcement since the Vikings drafted him as the 23rd pick in 2023.
The arrest came just before a scheduled end-of-season press conference with the Vikings’ general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, and coach, Kevin O’Connell. Both expressed surprise at learning about the incident and refrained from discussing potential actions by the team.
Addison is set to be eligible for a contract extension this spring. His teammate, Jalen Nailor, the current No. 3 receiver, is also facing free agency. Adofo-Mensah remarked on Addison’s overall character, stating, “99% of the time, he’s a joy to be around.” However, he emphasized the need to assess Addison’s recent behavior when considering future contract talks.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s records show Addison was arrested around 3:46 a.m. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, with him being booked roughly three hours later. He posted a $500 bond and was released by the afternoon.
Addison’s legal team is already investigating the incident, with hopes to clear his name. They mentioned on social media that they’re gathering witness statements and evaluating a potential false arrest claim.
This isn’t the first trouble Addison has faced. In July 2023, he was caught driving 140 mph on a Minnesota freeway. He accepted a guilty plea for misdemeanor speeding and paid a fine of $686. Just a year later, he was cited for a DUI after being found asleep behind the wheel near LAX. He ended up pleading no contest to a “wet reckless” charge, receiving probation and a $390 fine, along with a three-game suspension.
In his time with the Vikings, Addison has been a talented player, accumulating 175 receptions, 2,396 yards, and 22 touchdowns in just 46 games. His recent legal issues, however, could impact not only his career but also the Vikings’ plans moving forward.
