Brett Veach Declares Patrick Mahomes is ‘Way Ahead of Schedule’ – What This Means for the Chiefs’ Future

Over the weekend, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shared some good news about quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Despite tearing his ACL last December, Mahomes is likely to be part of the offseason training activities (OTAs) in some way.

Kansas City General Manager Brett Veach also chimed in, praising Mahomes for his recovery progress. He highlighted how inspiring it has been to see Mahomes so dedicated. “I’ve seen him bounce back before from injuries,” Veach said, recalling Mahomes’ fast recovery from a dislocated knee back in 2019. “This time, he’s even more committed. He’s been in our building every day, and even on family trips, he brings a trainer with him.”

Veach emphasized that Mahomes is ahead of schedule. The challenge might be keeping him from pushing himself too hard, especially as the training camp approaches in St. Joseph, Missouri. “He’s a fierce competitor, so we’ll need to hold him back a bit,” Veach added.

Coach Reid mentioned that the Chiefs are considering Mahomes’ participation carefully, signaling they may take a cautious approach. However, with Veach’s positive outlook on Mahomes’ recovery, it seems he will strive to be fully involved in late July when training camp kicks off.

In recent years, the NFL has seen an increased focus on player recovery and rehabilitation practices. A study by the NFL Players Association found that players who engage in regular physical therapy and training tend to recover faster and reduce the risk of re-injury. This data reinforces the point Veach made about Mahomes’ commitment to his recovery.

As fans eagerly await the upcoming season, social media has been buzzing with support and excitement about Mahomes’ progress. Many are sharing their thoughts and hopes for the season, indicating how much he means to the team and the league.

Mahomes’ journey serves as a reminder of resilience in sports. His determination to return to peak form is inspirational, not just for fans but for athletes everywhere.
