Brian Schottenheimer Talks Micah Parsons’ Sideline Behavior and MRI Results: What It Means for the Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer spoke recently about pass rusher Micah Parsons. He hasn’t yet discussed Parsons’ behavior during the preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons but plans to do so soon.

“I haven’t had a chance to talk to Micah yet,” Schottenheimer noted in a call. “I’m aware of what happened, but I need to sit down with him to sort things out.”

During the game, Parsons lay on a training table for several moments and wasn’t wearing a jersey, which is a requirement for players who don’t play. Schottenheimer emphasized the need to understand Parsons’ actions before commenting further.

Parsons didn’t provide any comments after the game. Schottenheimer confirmed that Parsons underwent an MRI for tightness in his back, but the results came back clean. “It seems like everything is alright,” he added.

Interestingly, Parsons is in a “hold-in” phase as he awaits a contract extension. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that Parsons is under contract for three more seasons. This includes his salary for this year and the chance of a franchise tag for the following two seasons.

So far, Parsons hasn’t participated in the entire training camp but has been attending walkthrough practices and meetings. Earlier this month, Parsons even requested a trade, adding to the ongoing buzz around his future.
